About the Project
AkzoNobel Coatings needed a distribution center. But that’s not all: they also immediately started looking for a partner who could handle distribution for them. And that’s how they ended up at Vos Logistics Services. They, in turn, approached us to find a suitable location and a financier.
AkzoNobel Coatings specializes in decorative paints, primers, and floor leveling compounds. That is why there was also a need for what is known as a client-specific Statement of Requirements.
Vicoma’s Role
We provided advice on the choice of location: the Majoppeveld business park in Roosendaal. We organized the development process and drafted a document outlining the guiding principles. We also took care of the client-specific Statement of Requirements. In doing so, we complied with PGS 15. PGS stands for the Hazardous Substances Publication Series. PGS 15 focuses exclusively on the storage of hazardous substances.
In our design, we took into account the integration of specific building, fire safety, and production systems. We did this in close collaboration with Vos and AkzoNobel. From a financial perspective, we assisted our client in gaining clarity on construction and operating costs, as well as pricing and contract structuring.
Result
A custom-built distribution center for AkzoNobel. The warehouse has liquid-tight floors throughout and features special PGS 15 compartments for the storage of flammable liquids and aerosol cans, among other items.
The new logistics center is fully sustainable and safe. Sustainable according to BREEAM certification standards and secure according to TAPA certification standards.
