About the Project
NEM Energy is working on the development of steam generators. For these structures, there was a need for technically substantiated insight into the behavior of the steel structure under various loads.
Vicoma supported NEM Energy with FEM analyses as part of the engineering process. The analyses provided a solid basis for well-considered design decisions during the further development of the structure.
Vicoma’s Role
Vicoma translated the geometry, loads and support points into FEM models in SCIA Engineer and Ansys. This provided insight into, among other things, stresses and deformations within the steel structure.
The challenge lay in accurately modelling the complex structure and the relevant load cases. Vicoma documented the assumptions, calculations and results in a clear report, ensuring that the technical substantiation was transparent and traceable.
Result
The FEM analyses provided NEM Energy with structurally substantiated insight into the behavior of the steel structure. This gave the project team a clear basis for the further engineering and optimization of the steam generators.
