About the Project
Synres, a producer of resins for paints and coatings, sought assistance to replace its outdated control system. The existing RS3 system at the Hoek van Holland plant had been in operation for many years but was no longer meeting current standards. Synres selected PlantPAx from Rockwell Automation as the new control system, and longtime engineering partner Vicoma was tasked with carrying out the detailed engineering for the transition.
Vicoma’s Role
With years of experience working alongside Synres, Vicoma possessed extensive knowledge of the existing installation. Our engineers converted over 35,000 signals during the transition and updated all drawings and schematics of the field installation to reflect the new setup. We worked closely with Synres’ maintenance team and their migration partner, IAP (Industrial Automation Partners), ensuring rapid responses and meticulous planning to leave nothing to chance.
“The various parties maintained close contact, which benefitted the project. I’m proud of the collaboration and the result.”
— Frans van Aalst | Synres
Result
Thanks to thorough preparation and strong collaboration, the transition to PlantPAx was completed smoothly. The production process was interrupted for only the planned two-week period. As a result of this modernisation, the plant is now reliably controlled and equipped with additional data capacity, positioning Synres for future growth.
