About the Project
The optimisation of logistics operations, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce costs, was at the heart of the assignment given to Vicoma; a challenge we were happy to accept.
Vicoma’s Role
Vicoma began with a comprehensive analysis of the logistics process, focusing particularly on the potential to reduce the number of distribution centres. The scenarios revealed that a single central distribution centre in the Central Limburg region perfectly aligned with Schneider Electric’s ambitions. Following a thorough site assessment, we developed the design for the distribution centre, which also includes office space.
The design was guided by the principle “Show who you are”, prominently featuring Schneider’s own installation technology products within the building. Our construction management ensured a smooth handover upon completion.
Result
By implementing our recommendations, Schneider Electric achieved the desired cost savings and service improvements. The distribution centre in Venray now serves customers across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Stocking approximately 12,000 different products, it processes over 6,000 order lines and dispatches more than 2,000 deliveries every day.
