About the Project
The owner of KCA looks beyond the obvious. With his company, KCA, he operates delivery vans servicing the northern region of the Netherlands. To continue expanding, he purchased a plot at ‘De Nieuwe Liede’ alongside the A9 motorway near Amsterdam. Clever as he is, he managed to acquire a parcel large enough to also develop rental business units. Thus, KCA became a “landlord” as well. KCA commissioned Vicoma to design both buildings and manage the entire construction process.
Vicoma’s Role
The zoning plan procedure proved far from straightforward. We provided extensive support to KCA throughout the subsequent permitting process. We fully engineered the integrated design and facilitated pricing and contract formation. Our construction execution design formed a solid basis for realisation. During construction, we assisted KCA with technical supervision and project management. Throughout the entire process, our project manager monitored timeframes, quality, and costs.
Result
A distinctive ensemble of small-scale logistical buildings in a prominent location alongside the A9 motorway near Schiphol and Amsterdam. On the one hand, both buildings create unity through their colour and use of materials. On the other, each building has developed a clear individual identity. The clean, sleek modern architecture raises the standard well above that of many other commercial buildings in the Netherlands. It demonstrates that with care, attention, and perseverance, much can be achieved. That truly makes us proud!
