About the Project
HES Botlek Tank Terminal planned to expand by adding two tank pits housing eighteen tanks. To accommodate this growth, the existing 25 kV installation required upgrading. As this was not feasible within the current substation, the 25 kV connection had to be reinforced in collaboration with the grid operator. HES commissioned us to carry out the basic engineering for the electrical systems.
Vicoma’s Role
We prepared the specifications for the 25 kV switchgear and the three-winding transformers.
For the implementation phase, we developed a comprehensive electrical specification detailing the installation of the new 25 kV switchgear and the cabling and connection works for the transformers. We also documented the transfer of the existing transformers to the new switchgear. Throughout the project, we managed all coordination with the grid operator, relieving HES of this significant responsibility.
Result
The new substation now features fully redundant 25 kV switchgear. Thanks to our carefully devised transfer plan, the transition proceeded smoothly, and the installation was successfully commissioned by HES Botlek Tank Terminal. Together, we look back on a successful project.
