About the Project
Goodman entered a competitive tender process to acquire two strategically located plots in the Port of Rotterdam. To strengthen their proposal, they enlisted Vicoma’s expertise in design and regulatory compliance.
Vicoma’s Role
We began by thoroughly reviewing the zoning plans and applicable regulations for both locations. Guided by Goodman’s Programme of Requirements, we developed tailored designs for both distribution centres and carefully arranged the site layouts.
A particular point of focus was the fire safety concept; especially for the proposed two-storey building on the “Boyneweg” site. Within the strict framework of fire safety legislation, we applied practical solutions to deliver a functional and compliant design.
Result
The outcome: an architecturally impressive and technically sound distribution centre, featuring a gross floor area of nearly 90,000 m². Although Goodman’s bid was ultimately not successful, the project greatly enriched our expertise in the design of multi-level logistics facilities; a valuable asset for future developments.
