About the Project
Oiltanking Amsterdam (now known as Evos), one of the largest independent operators of tank terminals for oil, gas, and chemicals entered into a contract with KLM airline for the supply of jet fuel. To facilitate this, existing storage tanks needed to be prepared specifically for jet fuel storage.
To enable delivery from ships, new pipelines had to be installed, connecting the docks to the storage tanks. The piping system also required pumps, a filtration unit, and a sizeable tank to separate wastewater from the jet fuel.
Given the site was already operational with existing storage tanks, space had to be carefully managed. Some existing piping needed to be relocated or even completely removed to make way for the new installation. Oiltanking entrusted Vicoma with the engineering of this complex task.
Vicoma’s Role
Our engineers eagerly accepted the challenge, handling both basic and detailed engineering. Various Vicoma disciplines were involved, including process, piping, mechanical, and Civil & Structural Engineering. Together, we managed the project comprehensively.
Result
The terminal conversion was successfully completed, enabling jet fuel to be efficiently transported from ship, to truck, and ultimately to aeroplanes.
